Natalie Milne to race in World University Champs – August 7th
Natalie Milne, Team GB and Team Scotland Triathlete, received the great news recently that she had been selected to represent Great Britain at the World University Championships. The Triathlon is to be held in Nyon, Switzerland, on 7th August 2016.
Natalie has already had a strong 2016 season so far, retaining her Scottish Aquathlon title at Knockburn in May. Natalie also retained her Scottish Sprint Title at Monikie in July. In addition to that, increasingly strong finishes for her French Division 1 team, Libourne Triathlon, mean 2016 is looking really good. To be selected for the Great Britain Team at the World University Championships in Switzerland is a really positive development and understandably very exciting!
The World Championships are organised by FISU, the International University Sports Federation. Triathlon entered the FISU World University Championships Programme in 1992 when the competition was held in Darmstadt, Germany. Anything up to 100 Athletes take part and this year, the event will be held in the lovely Swiss town of Nyon. Nyon is nestled alongside the western end of Lake Geneva and is a perfect location for outdoor sports such as Triathlon. Criterium Cycles also had a good look at the other activities available in Nyon and there are plenty of lovely cafes and restaurants in which to relax and while away the hours. However, we know those will be of little interest to international elite athletes. Well, perhaps not too much interest anyway!
This is a great opportunity for Natalie to demonstrate her potential and credentials as an international athlete. Attention is understandably turning to the Commonwealth Games in 2018 once the small matter of the Olympic Games in Rio are out of the way. We wish Natalie all the very best in Nyon at the World Champs and will be bringing you news of how she gets on in due course.
